FLAG RALLY....

REMEMBERING SEPTEMBER 11, 2001

Lafayette Flag Brigade is the name given to a grassroots association of patriotic individuals who came together on 9-11-01 to fly the stars and stripes.

Support the US Marines against the shameful and insulting actions of the Berkeley City Council!

BACKGROUND OF THE STORY

The City of Berkeley, California, has decided that the Marine Corps recruiting office in Berkeley must go because they are "intruders" and "not welcome". Excuse me? The United States Marines--defending our country since 1775--are "intruders" and "not welcome"??? At the same time, Code Pink--insulting our military since 2002--is given city sponsored preferential free speech and parking treatment to insure that our Marines are sufficiently harrassed at their recruitment office.

And if you don't believe that the mayor and other members of the Berkeley City Council are actively supporting Code Pink, read this.

Since 9-11-01, the Lafayette Flag Brigade has displayed a flag on the 11th of each month on the El Curtola bridge between Lafayette and Walnut Creek over Highway 24 near the I-680 interchange. On September 11th each year, we have a special remembrance and flag display. Show your support by joining us and waving a flag, or honking your horn as you drive by.

Since September 11th, families and individuals have come together to remember those who tragically died, and later to show support for the war on terrorism.

All of us are working individuals who take time from our schedules to do something we think is important. We come from Oakland, Alameda, Walnut Creek, Orinda, Lafayette, Concord, Antioch and other towns in the East Bay.
