The Lafayette Flag Brigade is planning a remembrance again this year for the ninth anniversary of the events of September 11, 2001.

Please join us on the El Curtola Boulevard overpass on Highway 24 between Lafayette and Walnut Creek, on Saturday, September 11, 2010, from 3pm until dark.

Events include a featured speaker who is a well known NYFD survivor; he will be displaying many of his own artifacts and personal photos never seen before.

The El Curtola Boulevard overpass on Highway 24 is easily reached by taking the Pleasant Hill Road exit off Highway 24 in Lafayette. Follow the signs to Pleasant Hill Road South. You will immediately cross Mt. Diablo Boulevard, and just a very short distance further on there is a traffic light for Old Tunnel Road. Turn left (east) on Old Tunnel Road, and the El Curtola overpass is about 3/4 mile. For a general map of the vicinity of the overpass, click here.

The 8th annual remembrance of the events of September 11, 2001, was inspirational and patriotic.

Since 9-11-01, the Lafayette Flag Brigade has displayed a flag on the 11th of each month on the El Curtola bridge between Lafayette and Walnut Creek over Highway 24 near the I-680 interchange. On September 11th each year, we have a special remembrance and flag display. Show your support by joining us and waving a flag, or honking your horn as you drive by.

Since September 11th, families and individuals have come together to remember those who tragically died, and later to show support for the war on terrorism.

All of us are working individuals who take time from our schedules to do something we think is important. We come from Oakland, Alameda, Walnut Creek, Orinda, Lafayette, Concord, Antioch and other towns in the East Bay.
